UHMW-PE stands for Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene. This material has an exceptionally high level of wear resistance. In a friction atmosphere it will generally last 40x longer than carbon steel. It will outwear most other materials including metals, nylons, and urethanes. Its coefficient of friction is comparable to PTFE, but it’s abrasion resistance is much higher. It is also highly resistant to most corrosive chemicals except oxidizing acids. In addition, it also has very high impact resistance.
Standard sheet size is 48″ x 96″. Rods and shapes are also available along with specific colors, but are not generally stocked.
